Biography

Leila Ilene Gruber, 87, of Gothenburg, departed this life on May 29, 2009 at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center, North Platte, NE.
She was born on September 8, 1921 to Frank and Lottie (Gammill) Devine in Dawson County, NE. She attended school at Farnam graduating from Farman High School in 1938. On September 14, 1939 she married Roland "Shorty" Gruber at Julesburg, CO. To this union two daughters were born, Janet and Jean. Leila and Roland lived in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Leila is survived by her daughters - Janet (William) Mackley of Stapelton, NE and Jean Westbrook of Cozad, NE; grandsons - William (Julie) Mackley Jr., Jim Mackley, Patrick (Terri) Mackley; granddaughters - Shana Westbrook-Smith, Dawn (Tom) Horn; special friend - Harold Hilton; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by husband, Roland "Shorty" Gruber, parents Frank and Lottie Devine, sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Bill Widick, sister Eva Devine, brother Herald Devine.
Cremation was chosen.
