Lavone Gerdes

Lavone Gerdes, 91, of Gothenburg, NE, died December 23, 2016 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

Lavone was born July 12, 1925 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of John and Mary (Fishburn) Trimble.

Lavone married Orville "Smoke" B. Gerdes on June 2, 1943 at Lexington.  They moved to West Coast in 1950 and lived there for nine years.  Lavone worked for Monroe Auto Company from 63-65, Nebraska Plastics 65-67, Evening Star Court, and for South View Manor Care Home for seven years.

She enjoyed attending Faith Chapel and being active in the church.  Lavone always enjoyed singing and loved fishing.  She could always be found giving out religious tracks. She enjoyed having coffee and playing cards with friends and family.

Surviving are sons Kenny (Linda) Gerdes of Cozad, NE,  Roger Gerdes of Cozad, NE, Dallas (Becky) Gerdes of Oconto, NE, one daughter, Connie Mosher of Friend, NE; eight grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and seven great great-grandchildren.

Lavone was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, one son Orville LeRoy, her parents, nine brothers, and three sisters.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel,Gothenburg, NE; Tuesday, December 27, 2016, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cozad Cemetery, Cozad, NE.
