Kristie Grado

Kristie was born on May 7, 1956 at Cozad, NE to Vernon and Darlene (Weber) Sweet. She attended school at Lexington and Gothenburg. Kristie married Shon Grado on July 14, 1983 in Norton, Kansas.

Kristie is loved by all of her family and will be greatly missed. She had a heart of gold always there to help everyone. Family was very important to her. Kristie always wanted her family together; she would plan and organize cookouts. She loved to bake and was a wonderful cook. Her sons were her life and when her grandchildren came it added to her love; they were very special to her. Kristie loved her daughters-in-law as the girls she never had. She will be missed by everyone that ever had the joy of knowing her.

Kristie is survived by her husband Shon Grado of Schuyler, two sons: Shawn (Kari) Sweet of Omaha, Aaron (Afton) Sweet of Schuyler, three grandchildren Kaitlyn and Braden Sweet of Omaha and Isaiah Sweet of Schuyler, two brothers: Larry (Sharon) Strickland of Wichita Falls, TX and Gary (Jan) Strickland of Marble Falls, TX; three sisters: Jackie Loudon of Omaha, Marlene Houchin of Gothenburg and Kathy (Terry) Sabin of Magnolia, TX; nine nephews: Travis Strickland, Shane and Terry Houchin, Troy Strickland, Bob Strickland, Jeff, Justin and Christopher Strickland, Jared Strickland, nine nieces: Becky McCoy, Bobbette Sanchez, Dana Henderson, Teresa Cooper, Brenda Gage, Renee Novak, Tracy and Tami Strickland, Shelly Strickland, seven great-nephews; Connor McCoy, Chris Houchin, Tristian Strickland, Trey Strickland, Michael Strickland, Dakota and Dalton Cooper, 14 great-nieces; Morgan Weaver, Madison Weaver, McKinley McCoy, Jana, Jenna and Hanna Sanchez, Chelsea Henderson, Taylor Strickland, Jayden Strickland, Tori Strickland, Brianna Houchin, Kendra, Carley and Sarah Strickland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Terry and Bob Strickland, brother-in-law Dan Houchin and two nephews: Troy and Daniel Houchin.

Closed Casket Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1-8 pm at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2 pm at the First Baptist Church, Gothenburg, NE, with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.

Burial will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
