Karen Rae Mann, 66, of Brady, Nebraska, died November 3, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.
She was born October 11, 1950 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Frank and Lois (Vickers) Jenkins.
Karen grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High with the class of 1968. She lived in California, Ohio, West Virginia, Gothenburg and Brady, Karen married Dale Mann in 1969. They raised three children together and later divorced. Karen worked at the Gothenburg Hospital in the early 1980's. She worked at Brady Public Schools from 1985 to 1987. She spent many years working as a travel agent and a truck driver. Karen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events.
Karen was known for her smile, her beauty and her generous spirit. She has a passion for politics and was an admirer of those who served in the military. She would go out of her way to tell anyone in uniform "thank you for your service". Karen had many friends all over the country to include the friends of her children and grandchildren. Karen knew no stranger and could have a conversation with anyone, and often did. She had a desire to help anyone she could in any way. She freely gave of her time, her money, and her love. Karen had a forgiving spirit and was always willing to give second chances. She had an art of making those she loved feel as if they could accomplish and overcome anything. Karen epitomized strength.
Survivors include her mother Lois Alberts of Gothenburg; daughter, Stacy Mann of Maxwell, NE; two sons, Justin (Melissa) Mann of Oxford, NE, Shad (Samantha) Mann of Brady, NE; two sisters, Shirley Logan, Janet Jenkins; five grandsons, Christian DeStefano, Trevor Mann, Levi DeStefano, Seth DeStefano, Kyle Mann; four granddaughters, Alexis DeStefano, Alexis Mann, Hannah DeStefano, Sarah DeStefano; nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Frank Jenkins, her step father Emil Alberts; her brother Mike (Diana) Jenkins.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, November 8, 2016, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, November 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joel Plisek officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.
In Lieu of Flowers a memorial will be established in Memory of Karen, 20000 E. Fort McPherson RD, Maxwell, NE 69151.
