Karen Preston Hurst, 61, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died April 6, 2014 at her home in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born April 4, 1953 in Prairie City, OR; daughter of Mervin and Rae (Saunders) Preston.
Karen grew up in Idaho and Utah. She graduated from Declo High School, Declo, ID. Karen married Theron R. Hurst on March 26, 1976. She is a loving wife, mother and grandmother who took special interest in her children and making the house a home. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her husband Theron Hurst of Gothenburg, NE; son, Jared and wife Heather Hurst; daughter, Rebecca and husband Joseph Welker; eight grandchildren Rachel Hurst, Matthew Welker, Joshua Welker, Nathan Hurst, Logan Welker, Jenna Hurst, Lilly Anna Welker and Kelsey Hurst; her father Mervin Preston; four sisters, Linda and husband Ken Miller, Diane and husband Dale Carter, Nyla and husband Jerry Kent, Vicki and husband Scott Christensen; two foster daughters, Rachel Welker, Kendra and husband Will Mercer; along with many extended family and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by mother, Rae Preston, father-in-law, Leo Windfield Hurst.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, April 09, 2014 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5-7 and from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the church on Thursday.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1407 West 13th Street, Lexington, NE, Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Bishop Steven Horton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Foundation.
