June Belle Hecox, 93, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died March 11, 2009 in Gothenburg at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long-term Care.
She was born June 24, 1915 in South of Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Ernest and Ramona (Brestel) Haynes.
June attended and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1933. Following graduation she attended business school and then taught school at a country school for a few years.
On June 8, 1939 she married Eugene Hecox at the Banner United Methodist Church South of Gothenburg. June and Eugene had twin boys Jerry and Jack.
She was a member of Banner United Methodist Church and for a short time Order of Eastern Star. June played the organ at the Banner United Methodist Church of over 60 years. She always enjoyed playing music and gave piano lessons to the children in the church.
Surviving are son, Jerry (Bev) Hecox of Beatrice, NE, son, Jack(Nora) Hecox of Dorchester, NE, sister, Lois Lemmon of Cozad, NE, sister-in-law, Vivian Haynes of Gothenburg, NE, two grandsons, Dan (Tammy) Hecox of York, NE; Scott (Sarah) Hecox of Omaha, NE; granddaughter, Angela Hecox of Beatrice, NE, two step-granddaughters, Kim (Steve) Fugett of Diller, NE; Sandy Weiner of Bend, OR and several great-grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene William Hecox, two brothers Milan and Stanley Haynes, and sister Marilyn Pagel.
