Biography

Jean Charlotte (Gustafson) Clymer, 89, of Gothenburg, Nebraska passed away December 11th with family at her side. She was born April 13, 1924 at Gothenburg, Nebraska to Henry Andrew and Jennie Ester (Anderson) Gustafson.
She grew up and lived most of her life south of Brady, Nebraska where she attended Union School, Dist 74, graduated from Brady High School and later graduated from Kearney State College.
Jean married Louis R. Clymer, June 21, 1947, living for one year in Thedford, Nebraska. After Jean's father passed in 1949, they moved to the family farm, south of Brady, where they resided and farmed until retiring to Gothenburg. They were also 'snowbirds' in Tucson, AZ for 20 some winters and enjoyed many friendships with other retirees from everywhere.
Jean was an elementary teacher in Lexington preceding her marriage and over the years, taught in several one-room rural schools. She took a special interest in her pupils and enjoyed keeping in touch with many of them.
She was a 50 year member of the United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and United Methodist Women. She held various offices in all memberships. For many, many years, she was the church organist for the Brady Methodist Church and pianist for the Sunday School when her children were small. She was also a Cub Scouts Den-Mother and served many years as an on-site volunteer at Nebraska Girls State in the summer, and was a representative to the Nebraska Methodist Church Conference.
Jean enjoyed reading, playing bridge and golfing. She and Louis traveled all the states and enjoyed several trips to foreign countries.
She is survived by her children, Stephen (Jolleen) Clymer, Lincoln; Mark (Sandra) Clymer, Gibbon; Janelle (Larry) Beran, Stephenville, TX; Bruce (Lori) Clymer, Gothenburg. Her grandchildren include: Christian(Christina)Beran, Little Elm TX; Jameson(Amy), Georgetown TX; Stacy (Shane) Rockfeller, Gibbon NE; Michael(Heather)Beran, Stephenville TX; Shea(Brynn) Clymer, Austin TX; Kelsey (Chad) Ruwe, Omaha, NE; Jennie Clymer, Omaha NE; Brittany Clymer, Weymouth MA; Jill Clymer, Omaha NE; and Josie Clymer, Ralston, NE. Her family also includes her great-grandchildren: Quentin, Baylee, Kreyton, Cooper, Lincoln, Isabel, Charli, and Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Louis.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, December 13, 2013 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00 pm..

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1401 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE 69138 on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10:00 am with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gaslin Cemetery, Brady, Nebraska.
