Janet Vass, 78, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died Tuesday July 19, 2022 at her daughters home in Custer County, NE.
Janet was born Sunday March 19, 1944 in Colorado Springs, CO, the daughter of James and Lela (Lamb) Padgett.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and attended Harrison school. Janet lived in many places throughout her life including, Colorado Springs and Julesburg, CO, Garden City, KS, and Sidney, Brule, North Platte, Lexington, and Gothenburg, NE. She loved farming with her husband, riding horses, drill team, fishing, and camping. Her favorite thing to do was going to the horse races in Grand Island.
Survivors include husband, Harold P. Vass of Gothenburg, four daughters, Susan (Kevin) Lunkwitz of Gothenburg, Lori (Bob) Centa of Valentine, Lynn Vass of Dodge City, KS, Renee (Denny) Robnett of Bonham, TX; two sons, Randy (Michelle) Vass of Sherman, TX, Rocky (Jake) Vass of Sterling, CO; sister, Cindy Padgett of Gothenburg, brother, Gary Padgett of Gothenburg, 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Lela Padgett, brothers, Ron and Jimmy Padgett, a sister, Jaqueline Padgett, and son Roger Vass. Father-in-law, Henry Vass, mother-in-law, Pauline Vass, brother-in-law, Orville Vass, sister-in-law, Jeanie Vass.
Register book signing will be held Tuesday July 26, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; with family present from 5:00-7:00.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Gothenburg, NE, July 27, 2022 at 2:30 PM.
Memorials may be given to the Asera Care Hospice (Checks written to Amedisys Foundation) , 6415 2nd Ave, Suite #3, Kearney, NE 68845.
