Jane A. Ballmer, 75 of St. Paul formerly of Gothenburg, died on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Golden Living Center- Park Place in Grand Island.
Jane was born on September 25, 1940 in North Platte, the youngest daughter of Ellis and Erma (Woods) Baker.
She was born and raised in North Platte where she graduated from High School; she continued her education in Business Administration.
On February 14, 1961 she was united in marriage to Dennis Ballmer. The couple made their home in Gothenburg. Jane was employed as a city clerk in Gothenburg and for many years as administrator of what now is Hilltop Estates. In recent years she was employed as a bookkeeper for Dean and Linda Goad. In early 2009 she moved to St. Paul to be near family.
Jane was a member of American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg as well as the Extension Club. She was a great cook and baker, she made numerous cakes for weddings, anniversaries and birthdays. For many years, Jane taught ceramics in her home, and sold many pieces at Christmas time. She took great pride in gardening and keeping her yard beautiful.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Karen (Lowell) Poland of St. Paul, and Cyndi (Darcy) Sample of Alliance; grandchildren, Corby Welch of Wichita KS, Kabir Poland, and Blake Poland of St. Paul NE, Erin DuBray, Lisa Burri and Jenni Zeigler of Alliance NE, and Jessi Davis of Gillette, WY; 13 nieces and nephews; along with numerous great-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis in 2005, parents, brothers and sister-in-law, Ellis Baker Jr., and Robert (Carlene) Baker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen (Paul) Nelson, Doris (Upton) Edis and Nephew Raymond Baker.
To honor Jane’s wishes, cremation was chosen. A gathering of friends will be held Monday Feb. 15th 2016 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel from 4-7 pm.
A Celebration of life service will be held, 10:30 am, Tuesday, Feb. 16th at American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg, NE. Inurnment will follow at Gothenburg Cemetery.
