Jan Kauffman

June 5, 1949 — November 3, 2021

Florence Janette (Jan) Kauffman, 72, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died November 3, 2021 at her residence.

She was born June 5, 1949 in Cordel, OK, daughter of J.R. and Eunice Elsie (Shipton) Auld.
Jan grew up in Gothenburg, NE, where she  graduated from high school (1967) and continued her education at Kearney State College (1970 - 1974), where she graduated with a teaching degree.

Jan spent the majority of her professional life (1974 - 1995) teaching business at Brady Public Schools.  She was loved by her students, many of whom considered her a friend throughout her life.  Jan had a servant heart, and was always willing to lend a hand.  She kept books for several small businesses and individuals within the community. In addition to teaching and bookkeeping, Jan always had a heart for volunteer work ~ specifically for causes that had touched her life in some way.  She volunteered as a Sunday School teacher at the United Methodist Church and served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts (Webelos).  Later in life, Jan volunteered as Executive Director for the Nebraska Brain Injury Association where she was a gifted grant writer.  For the past 10 years, she has dedicated many hours as a Spiritual Coach for Groundwire, leading people to Jesus.

Jan was married to, and later divorced Ron Kauffman. They had two sons, Kelly and Brandon, who brought her great joy.   Kelly and Brandon would go on to give her 7 grandsons who she absolutely adored.  Noah Kauffman (21), Presley Kauffman (18), Keeton Kauffman (17), Carter Kauffman (14), Ethan Kauffman (11), Christian Kauffman (7), and Maverick Kauffman (4).

Jan’s hobbies included fishing, cross stitch, reading, puzzles, photography, spending time with friends, family, her sons and grandsons, loving people and pointing others to Jesus.  She was truly a light to all those who crossed her path.

Survivors include two sons, Brandon( Katie) Kauffman, Austin, TX, Kelly (Alisha) Kauffman, Austin, TX; brother, Bill Auld of Gothenburg, NE; sister, Jo Anne Haynes (Duane) Gorsuch;
seven grandsons, Sister-in-law Sharon Auld, brother-in-law William Haynes. Nieces and Nephews - Dean Phelps, Kathy (Darin) Oliver, Clint (Emily) Haynes, Sadie Auld, Emily Auld, Josie Auld, Sam (Sarah) Auld, Anne (Jon) Loethen and several great nieces and nephews.
