James Williams

James "Jim" F. Williams, 72, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 30, 2011 at his home following a courageous battle with Cancer.

Jim was born on July 6, 1939 in Burwell, NE to Howard and Helen (Lybarger) Williams.

Jim grew up in Sargent, NE where he graduated from Sargent High School in 1958. Following high school Jim entered the US Air Force and was stationed at Hanover Air Force Base in Hanover, MA from 1958 until 1962.

On July 6, 1960 he married Judy Grim at Sargent, NE. To this union two children were born Scott and Sheila.

Jim was a Dept. Manager for several Co-Op divisions, working in Upland, Minden, North Platte, Maywood, Farnam and finally settling in Gothenburg in 1969.

Jim was a member of the American Legion, several gun clubs and a lifetime member of the NRA. Jim was a huge Nebraska Husker football fan. He loved competing in shooting competitions. His kids were very special to him. Jim loved landscaping their yard.

He is survived by his loving wife Judy Williams of Gothenburg, NE; son Scott Williams of Brady, NE; daughter Sheila (Greg) Sales of Kearney, NE; mother Helen Davidson of Cozad, NE; two brothers Fritz (Pat) Williams of Montague, MA; Bob (Toni) Williams of Loomis, NE; four brothers-in-law, Dan (Sandy) Grim of Kearney, NE; Don (Pat) Grim of Central City, NE; Brent (Melody) Grim of St. Libory, NE; Brad (Marsha) Grim of Grand Island, NE, two sisters-in-law LouWana (Curly) Mills of Adams, NE; Iris (Greg) Hofling of Sioux City, IA.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Howard Williams and his In-laws Vandell and Emma Lou Grim.

Register Book will be available for signing on Wed., August 3, from 9 am until 4 pm at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; .

Memorial Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, August 4, 2011 at 11:00 am with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.

Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
