Jack Owen Moore, 60, of Gothenburg, NE died August 18, 2019 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.
He was born February 11, 1959 in Colby, KS, son of Glenn and Melda (Headly) Moore. Jack graduated from Colby High School. He married Connie Brown on April 4, 1981 in Colby, KS. They made their home in Oberlin, KS and had four daughters: Amanda, Katie, Jamie, and Crystal. They lived in Oberlin until moving to Gothenburg in 1997. Jack worked for Halliburton, both nationally and internationally, on oil rigs off the coasts including the coast of Africa. He worked for a number of years in the Physical Therapy Department at Gothenburg Hospital before working for the Gothenburg Parks Department. He returned to Halliburton in 2008 to work on his true passion. In his free time, Jack enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Layla. He loved to play practical jokes and was the master of telling Dad Jokes. He enjoyed being outside; golfing, hiking in the mountains, or visiting with friends around his fire pit or table while sharing a glass of tea. He created wood furniture and other special projects in his woodworking shop. He was the Grill Master, smoking meats on his Green Mountain.
Surviving are wife, Connie Moore, of Gothenburg; three daughters, Katie (A.J.) Rose of Columbus, NE, Jamie Moore of Seward, NE, Crystal (Alex) Steger of Lochbuie, CO; granddaughter Layla Rae Rose; two brothers, Wesley (Claudia) Moore of Centerville, KS, Charles Moore of Kailua, HI; in-laws Duane and Doris Brown of Colby, KS; three brother-in-laws, Rod (Ileen) Brown of Kalispell, MT, Ron Brown of Russell, KS, Donald (Deb) Brown of Independence, KS; sister-in-law, Sheila (Brown) Williams of Colby, KS; along with many well loved nephews and nieces and many friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amanda Kay Moore; brother, Donald Moore.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, August 21, 2019, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 1020 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 2:30 pm with Rev. David Boyd officiating.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 am, Friday, August 23, 2019 in the Oberlin Cemetery, Oberlin, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, 1020 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE 69138.
