Irene Peek

Irene Elsie Peek, age 90, of Cozad, Nebraska passed away February 9, 2009 in Cozad, Nebraska.
Irene was born October 24, 1918 in Gilead, Nebraska to William A. and Ellen Christine (Neeman) Rauckmann. She was the younger of two children.
Irene married Chester A. Peek on January 27, 1940 in Colby, Kansas. To this union two daughters were born, Goldie and Jeanie. The couple made their home in Goodland, Kansas until 1977 when they moved to Lexington, Nebraska to be near their children and grandchildren. Several years later they moved into the new Cozad Housing facility. Chet passed away in 1990. Irene lived there until moving into assisted living. In July of 2008 Irene moved into the Golden Living Center.
Irene was a member of the Cozad American Lutheran Church, the To Better You Club, and the 12th Street Birthday Club in Cozad. She enjoyed playing cards, and fishing with her husband Chet. Irene was a talented quilter and made numerous baby blankets for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother George.
Irene is survived by her two daughters Goldie Souders of Parker, CO and Jean (Mike) Critchfield of Cozad, NE; grandchildren Mike Souders of Tullahoma, TN; Teri (Dale) Tipton of Parker, CO; Lisa (Kenard) Koetter and family: Ryan, Aaron, and Kody of Ellinwood, KS; Kelly (John) Peden and family: Nicole, Nathan, Zach, Savannah and Jaiden of Cozad, NE and Kristi (Tim) Daum and family: Alyson, Brenleigh and Andrew of Limon, CO. Irene is also survived by one great-great grandchild, Blake, son of Nicole Nelsen and Andrew Conroy.
