Henry Robert Vogt, 90, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died January 16, 2022 at Hilltop Estates, Gothenburg, NE.
He was born September 15, 1931 in Gothenburg, NE, of Roy and Agnes ( Miller) Vogt of Gothenburg.
Henry married Donita Phillips in North Platte on May 12, 1957, after her passing, Henry married Betty Malcom on September 17, 2006 in Gothenburg.
After finishing the 10th grade of high school he went to work for Leonard Hood Construction.
Henry served in the Navy for four years on the USS Pittsburgh, (CA- 72), after being discharged from the Navy. Henry farmed and ranched in Gothenburg and received an Outstanding Young Farmer Award, from Farm Bureau. He also owned H.R. Vogt Trucking and operated a small feed lot. He enjoyed buying cattle for D & D and Hi-Gain Feedlots. He attended the Zion Lutheran Church most of his life.
He enjoyed both dirt and road motorcycle racing and car racing and he loved classic cars.
Henry served as County Commissioner, on the Zion Lutheran Church Council Church Board and also on District 81-R, School Board.
Survivors include wife, Betty Vogt, Gothenburg, four sons, Henry Kirk Vogt, Gothenburg, Robert Roy (Mary) Vogt, Thedford, NE; Dave (Marilee) Malcom, Cozad, NE, Don (Gayla) Malcom, Sundance, WY; Daughter, Debbie (Alan) Barnett, Charleston, SC; 14 - Grandchildren, 15 great - grandchildren, three great - great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Agnes Vogt, in-laws Dell and Ellen Phillips, wife - Donita Vogt, 2-daughters, Dennette Vogt, Debbie ( Alan) Barnett, granddaughter, Natasha Vogt, grandson, Matthew Paulsen, sister-in-law, Virginia Vogt, two brothers, Johnny Roy Vogt, Jimmy Vogt, sister and brother in law Alice and George Hays, brother in law Del Tobey, brother and sister-in-law Delmond and Alta Phillips, sister and brother in law Janice and Kenny Phillips.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. with family present 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thursday January 20, 2022 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jeff Cottingham officiating.
Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
