Helen Kay (Healey) Linsday was born on December 17th, 1937 in Creston, IA to William “Bill” and Beulah “Boo” (Reed) Healey.  The family moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska in the spring of 1938 where Kay grew up and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1956.  The fall of 1956, Kay enrolled in college at the University of Texas, where she ended up receiving her nursing degree.  After college she worked for United Airlines which landed her in the Los Angles area where she began her nursing career at the UCLA Medical Center.
