Harvey W. Finke, 89, of Gothenburg, passed away on October 17, 2008 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

Harvey was born on October 12, 1919 to William and Ada (Retzlaff) Finke at Lincoln, NE. He attended school in Walton where he graduated in 1938. After high school Harvey went to work on the family farm. On September 17, 1950 he married Elaine Lauer at the Christ Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, NE. To this union two sons were born Glenn and Craig. Harvey and Elaine lived on the family farm in Walton until moving North of Cozad in 1957. They later moved to Gothenburg in 1977.

Harvey was a member of the American Lutheran Church and was on the church council. He was on the Extension board, the school board and was a 4-H leader. Harvey enjoyed playing cards especially with his pitch club and he was always up for a cup of coffee.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Elaine, two sons Glenn and his wife Sue of Cozad, NE and Craig and his wife Mary of Cozad, NE. Six grandchildren Adam and his wife Deanna Finke of Gothenburg, Annie and her husband George Cornwell of Gothenburg; Anthony Finke of Kearney; Maren Finke of Cozad; Shelby Finke of Cheyenne, WY; Macy Finke of Cozad, NE and two great-grandchildren Emily and Madison Cornwell of Gothenburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mildred, three brothers: Melvin and his wife Emma, Vern and his wife Iola and Albert and his wife Eva.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 20, 9:00 a.m.a�"8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6a�"8 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg, NE, with Pastor Matthew Groenke and Lonna Grabenstein, PMA., officiating.
