Harold McFadden, 94, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died December 31, 2010 in Gothenburg, NE.
He was born February 9, 1916 in Cushing, NE, son of Ignatius and Mary McFadden.
He grew up in Cushing, Crawford and Gothenburg NE. He graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1934. He spent the rest of his life in Gothenburg except for the time he spent in the service.
He served his country in the US 3rd Army, 4th Corps from 1941-1945, serving in France, Germany, Australia including the Battle of the Bulge.
He married Dorothy Larson on January 31, 1948 at Gothenburg NE; to this union 2 children were born: Dennis & Cheryl.
He worked as a mechanic for CNPPID in Gothenburg. He enjoyed mechanically building and fixing things and motorcycles. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. After his retirement he enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are son, Dennis McFadden of Gothenburg, NE, daughter, Cheryl and John Van Clief of Louisville, CO, grandson, Justin Van Clief of Colorado, granddaughter, Katrina McFadden of Pensacola, FL, step-grandson, Jeff Oxford of Lincoln, NE, and one great-granddaughter, his sister, Gladys Armitage of Cheyenne, WY, along with nieces, nephews and extended family.
Harold was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy McFadden, his parents, brothers, W. Howard and Harry McFadden.
