Harold L Anderson, 89, of Gothenburg, passed away on December 9, 2009 at Cozad, NE.
He was born on May 16, 1920 to Fred and Esther (Oman) Anderson on his parents farm north of Gothenburg in Custer County, NE. As a boy, he attended school at Swedish Grove, and he graduated from Kearney State College. He taught school at Bolus, NE.
He was a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, the 703 Bomb Squadron, 445 group. As a bomber pilot, his plane was shot down in Germany. He was a WWII prisoner of war. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. He is a member of the VFW.
Mr. Anderson married Ruth Votaw on February 1, 1989 at his home in Gothenburg. Their marriage was a happy one. Together they were able to travel all over the US.
Harold is survived by his sister Eleanor Wright of Colorado Springs, CO and his four nieces, Cheryl, Alanna, Patricia and Joanne; and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by wife, Ruth Anderson, and his parents.
