Goldie Pearl (Franzen) Zysset went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Goldie was born on November 16, 1911 to Noah and Pearl (McClellen) Hudson at Etna, Nebraska north of Gothenburg. She attended rural schools and later attended Gothenburg High School graduating in 1928. After graduating she taught country school for at couple of years.
On May 25, 1935 she married John Franzen at the Christ Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, Nebraska to this union seven children where born including two sets of twins. John went to be with the Lord on October 29, 1982. After being widowed for almost nine years she married Jess Zysset on November 16, 1991, Goldie's 80th birthday.
Goldie was active in the OIC Club, PVC Club, the American Lutheran Quilters Group, and a life long blood donor for the Red Cross. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting and crocheting, bowling, cooking and especially dancing. Goldie made the baptismal napkins for the American Lutheran Church for 27 years. She was named Gothenburg's first Mother of the Year in 1970.
Goldie's main love in life was her family, especially the children. She loved spending as much time with them as she could. She made quilts and afghans for each of them, something they will always cherish.
Goldie is survived by six sons: Lyle (Arlene) Franzen, Larry (Marye) Franzen, Milan (Barb) Franzen, Dale (Anne) Franzen all of Gothenburg, NE; LaVern (Connie) Franzen of Hastings, NE; and Daryl (Marcene) Franzen of North Platte, NE; one daughter Marlene (Fred) Williams of Ord, NE; one brother Earl (Gladys) Hudson of Gothenburg; 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John H Franzen, husband Jess Zysset; a brother Raymond Hudson; and one great grandson Lane Franzen.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg with Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Thursday, March 22 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm with the family present from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the American Lutheran Cemetery in Gothenburg, NE.
