Genevieve Idona Hamilton, 93, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died December 7, 2011, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born October 20, 1918 north of McCook, near Center Point, NE; daughter of Charles and Marie (Hansen) Appleyard.
Genevieve graduated from Curtis Agricultural School in Curtis, NE in 1935. She then enrolled in two years of Normal Training and taught in rural schools in the area for six years.
Genevieve married Willard D Hamilton on April 25, 1940 at Oberlin, KS. To this union four children were born: Janice, Carol, Ronald and Joy.
Genevieve trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior in the spring of 1945, at the Evergreen Union Church during evangelistic meetings.
After her husbands death in 1974, Genevieve found employment as a Dorm Mom at Western Bible College in Morrison, CO. In 1978, she became the Dean of Women at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, MO; and continued there until her retirement in 1988. She then moved to Gothenburg, NE where she resided until her death.
Surviving are daughter, Janice (John) Janssen of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Carol (Dennis) Brown of Gothenburg, NE; daughter-in-law Mary Hamilton of Chaska, MN; daughter, Joy (Vern) Wigle of Chaska, MN; brother DeVere (Betty) Appleyard of Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren along with many extended relatives, family and friends.
Genevieve was preceded in death by husband Willard, her parents, still born son Gary Dean, her son Ron Hamilton and her brother Lyle Appleyard.
