Gene Owen Shawley, 71, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died January 19, 2014 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with Cancer.
He was born August 22, 1942 in Seattle, WA, to Ray Tolstrup and Elaine (Adams) Shawley.
Gene grew up in Bainbridge Island, WA where he graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1960. Following graduation Gene served his country in the US Navy.
Gene worked as a Machinist for many years in the Poulsbo, WA area and worked for the Washington Dept. of Transportation. He retired from there as a General Forman.
Gene was married to Beverly Hall of Gothenburg on June 23, 2013 at the Evangelical Free Church and made his home in Gothenburg until his passing.
Gene loved spending time with his family and staying active in his church.
He is survived by his wife Beverly Hall of Gothenburg, NE; four sons and five daughters; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother Steve Shawley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one brother.
Memorial Services will be held at Evangelical Free Church, January 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Nathaniel Gustafson officiating.
Inurnment will take place in Poulsbo, WA at a later date.
