Frida Henrietta Cline, 95, of Newton, Kansas, formerly of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died March 1, 2016, at Asbury Park in Newton, Kansas.
She was born October 11, 1920, the sixth of eight children of Adolf and Henny Rickertsen of rural Lexington. She attended country school. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1938. Following her graduation, Frida worked in a bank in Lexington until her marriage on April 18, 1942, to Billy Cline. They spent their first year of marriage in various U.S. army bases before Billy was shipped overseas in WWII. Following the war, the family returned to Nebraska where Billy was a life-long farmer in the Gothenburg area. In addition to being a farm wife and mother of four, Frida was active in Banner Methodist Church, in leading 4-H Clubs, and in VFW Auxiliary. She was employed at McDonalds Clothing store as a sales clerk and later at Simon Chevrolet Motor Company as a bookkeeper. She then provided child care in her home and was especially proud of the Bahe boys and the Wilson children as they grew up. After residing in Dawson County all her life, in December 2010, she moved to Newton, Kansas, to be nearer to family. Her additional interests included Nebraska wildflowers, yard work, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and collecting angels.
Survivors include son Gary (Penny) Cline and their son Jeremy (Babette) and children Chloe and Seth of California; son William (Connie) Cline and their son Adrian of New Jersey; daughter Nanet (Rich) Sula and their son Jacob; daughter Vicki (Robert) Bergman and their three children: daughter Cathlina; son Greg (Kate) and sons Joshua and Dominic; son Danny (Laura)and their children JonJay, David, Molly, May, and Lily of Kansas. Sister: Betty (Roy) Clark, Lexington. Sisters-in-law: Lucile Rickertsen, Gothenburg and Bertha Rickertsen, Lexington, NE. Special Friends: The folks of the Banner community.
She was preceded in death by her husband Billy H. Cline in 1990. Parents: Adolf and Henny Rickertsen; Brothers: Henry, Chris, Carl and Bill Rickertsen; Sisters: Anna Hilton and Else Biehl; Parents-in-law: Emory and Hazel Cline; In-laws Vance Cline, Jean Atkinson, Ruth Anderson, Robert Cline.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska, on Sunday, March 6, 2016, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. with the family present from 2:00-4:00.
Services will be held at Banner United Methodist Church, March 7, 2016, at 10:00 am with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Peckham Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
