Freda Lindstedt, 81, of Rock Island Table, passed away on November 2, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Freda May was born on November 6, 1926 north of Callaway, NE to Cleveland Ashley and Mattie May (Price) Pitkin. She grew up at Callaway and then when she was 8 years old her family moved to Oregon. Her parents built and ran cabin camps with a dancehall in Oregon for 2 ½ years before returning to Callaway.

Freda attended school in Callaway and Oregon and graduated from Callaway High School in 1945. She lived mostly on Rock Island Table and then moved to Aaron's parents' home until moving in to Gothenburg in May 2008.

Freda married Aaron Lindstedt at her parent's home in Callaway on August 18, 1946. To this union 3 children were born: Ted, Jolene, & Peggy.

Freda worked as a Teacher and as a farmer's wife. She worked side by side with Aaron in the fields and doing chores. Everyone was welcome at their table and you always had to eat something before leaving. She was a member of the Rock Island Extension Club. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, she loved playing her keyboard with Aaron at nursing homes, anniversaries, or just for fun.

Freda is survived by a son Ted (Debbie) Lindstedt of Cozad, daughters Jolene (Don) Olson of Arnold, Peggy (Dan) Yancy of Gothenburg; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Ira (Jo) and Tony (Beverly) Pitkin of Callaway; and a sister Marge (Dean) Headley of Callaway.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Aaron on May 17, 2008; her brother Charles Pitkin and a sister Thelma G'Schwind.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 6, from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm with the family present from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 7, 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastors Randall Dilts and Larry Viter officiating.

Burial will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
