Gothenburg, NE é�a��a�? Floyd J. Aden, 92, passed away on Nov. 3, 2007 at his home in Gothenburg, NE.
Floyd was born on August 21, 1915 at Gothenburg, NE to Henry C. and Dena Lambertus Aden. He was a member of St. Johné�a��a��s Lutheran Church and the American Lutheran Church and graduated from Gothenburg High School. He married Florence Polak on July 24, 1973.
He was inducted in the US Army in 1941 and served with the Calvary Brigade Infantry Division until the end of WWII. His division participated in the liberation of the Philippines and more specifically the Santo Tomas internment camp in Manila in February of 1945. Floyd knew of the imprisonment of former Gothenburg resident Bertha Andrews, and located her in the prison. After the war she came back to Gothenburg for a celebratory reunion visit with family and friends which Floyd was invited to attend at the Gothenburg High School.
Floyd lived in Gothenburg the rest of his life. He worked at Aden & Kampfe Dept Store and was a meat cutter at Peterson's Locker until he retired. He enjoyed woodworking projects and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry C. Aden and Dena Lambertus Aden, his wife Florence Aden, many relatives and life long friends.
Floyd is survived by his sister, Arlene A. Peterson and husband Blaine of Gothenburg, Nieces & Nephews: Steve & Ligia Peterson, Erica, Michael & Jessica of Gothenburg; Gregg & Deb Peterson and Blaine of Lyons, CO; Aaron, Brian & Katie Kelly & Ron Schmeeckle of Cozad; Casey, Archie & Levi; Kent & Krystal Peterson of Anchorage, AK; Trent & Sherri, Ryan & Randy; Kristi & Stanley Combs of Gillette, WY; Jason & Lynn Combs of Illinois.
The family wishes to acknowledge their gratefulness to Mr. Jim Cunning for his years of friendship and assistance to Floyd.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the American Lutheran Church Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Matthew Groenke and Lonna Grabenstien, PMA officiating.
Burial will be in the American Lutheran Cemetery Gothenburg, NE.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Wed., Nov. 7, 2007 with family present from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.
Memorial Directed To: American Lutheran Church or Donor's Choice.
