Biography

Etta F. Ward Gilmore, 91, died November 1, 2007, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, Gothenburg, Nebraska.


She was born June 24, 1916, near Macksville, the daughter of Albert and Myrtle Evans Wilson. Etta was a resident of Larned from 1969 until 2002, when she move to Gothenburg to be with family. She was a retired Food Service worker at the Larned State Hospital.


She belonged to the Ft. Larned Lions Club, Good Sam's and the Welcome Inn Seniors all of Lamed and was an avid bowler.


On June 10, 1933, she married C.J. "Jack" Ward at Macksville. He died July 19, 1978. On April 4, 1986, she married Glen Gilmore at Larned. He died June 29, 2001.


Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Ward, Boise, Idaho and Wesley Ward, Louisville, Colorado, three daughters, Marietta Miller and Carol Cheetsos both of Gothenburg, Nebraska and Donna Sever, Modesto, California, 14 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Robert and Ronald, one brother, James Wilson, and seven sisters, Eula Dibble, Hazel, Ella Wilson, Velma Wilkerson, Ethel Kell, Bertha White and Laura Love.


Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Morell Funeral Home, Larned. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and the family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, Macksville.
