Esther Louise Selders, 91, of Gothenburg, NE, died December 20, 2006 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term. She was born on May 10, 1915 to Fred J. and Letta M. (Heaten) Sexsmith at Orient, Iowa. When Esther was age 3 the family moved to the Oé�a��a��Neill, NE area. She graduated from Oé�a��a��Neill High School in 1933 and attended Beauty School in Omaha.

On May 10, 1937 Esther married John H. Selders in Oé�a��a��Neill, NE. John was from Griswold, IA and they went back to Iowa to farm for 6 or 7 years, before moving to Seattle, WA. where they lived for 1 é�½ years. The family then moved back to Griswold and from there moved to Elm Creek, NE where they lived about 7 years before moving to McCool Junction, NE where they had a motel and Esther had a beauty shop. From there, they came to Gothenburg, where Esther ran a beauty shop for several years. After retirement they moved back to Elm Creek. In 1996 they moved into Gothenburg to be near her family. Esther had been residing in Long Term Care in Gothenburg for the past 10 é�½ years.

Esther enjoyed quilting, collecting windmills, needle work, and embroidery work. She was a past member of the Elm Creek Christian Church.

Survivors include 3 daughters: Betty Marquardt, of Gothenburg; Mary (Bruce) Walker of Falls City, NE; and Jonda (Dean) Jones of Fallon, NV. 9 Grandchildren: Cindy (Don) Gamblin of Chapman; Ed (Khris) Pelzer, Les (Darla) Pelzer and Marci (Mike) Johnson all of Gothenburg; Barbara (Jeff) Scholting of Gretna; Linda (Eric) Cook of Topeka, KS; Brian (Cindi) Walker of Hickman; Steven (Angela) Walker of Colo. Springs, CO; and Deana Jones of Pacific, WA. 20 Great grandchildren. 2 Great-great granddaughters. One Sister: Alice (Wayne) Gannon of Aubron, WA.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband John (February 7, 2006), l brother, 2 sisters and 2 son-in-laws.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE, with Pastor Larry Viter officiating. Burial is in the Elm Creek Cemetery at 2 p.m. Visitation is Friday 1 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may go to donoré�a��a��s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Blase-Strauser memorial chapel of Gothenburg.
