Ellen Bohlman, 80, of Gothenburg died on August 23, 2007.

Ellen was born on May 10, 1927 in River Falls, WI to Carl Caster and Jennie (Martin) Wiff. She attended local schools, graduated from High School in Ellsworth WI in 1945. She graduated from nursing school at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital followed by earning a Bachelors Degree at St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN. She taught nursing school in St. Paul, MN and Presbyterian Hospital in Denver. In 1953 she married E. Harold Evenson. To this union, 3 sons were born.

Ellen enjoyed reading, gardening, art, music, travel, skiing, and tennis. She loved skiing- particularly learning to ski as a child in WI. She skied nearly every year until the age of 79! She loved to watch sports and played competitive dual tennis during her 40's and 50's.

In 1987 she married Heino Bohlman and lived in Colorado Springs for nine years. She moved to Gothenburg in 1996 and was an active member of the American Lutheran Church. She served on multiple church committees, her favorite being the visitation committee. She played bridge and belonged to several book clubs, volunteered at the Elementary School, Senior Center and the Library.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother and her sister Susan.

Ellen is survived by her sons: Eric & Carolyn Evenson of Gothenburg, NE; Tom & Cindee Evenson of Freeman, SD; Curt & Julie Evenson of Springfield, MO.; 9 Grandchildren and 1 grand son-in-law. A sister Shirley (Russell) Schutt of Kirkhoven, MN. Brothers Charles (Barbara) Wiff of Spring Valley WI, Thomas (Betty) Wiff of Balsam Lake, WI.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Matthew Groenke and Lonna Grabenstein PMA officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 26, 2007, 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to American Lutheran Church.
