Biography

Eleanor D. Nelson 90 of Gothenburg, Nebraska passed away November 21, 2007 at Gothenburg Long Term.


She was born October 23, 1917 in Lincoln County Nebraska to Ralph and Anna Ohlson Helberg.


Eleanor attended school at Hazel Dell School in Custer County and graduated from Callaway High School in 1935.


On January 2, 1940 she married Elvin A. Nelson at Lexington, Nebraska. They made their home in Tallin Table later moving to Callaway and then to Gothenburg in 1952. She moved to Gothenburg Long Term in 2002.


She is survived by one son Rand E. Nelson of Benson, AZ. one daughter Pamela and husband Ray of Gothenburg, three grandchildren, Lori (Lee) Matingly of Gig Harbur, WA, Lincoln Nelson of Aurora, CO and Elvin Slack of Sheridan, WY, three great grand children, Mathew Matingly, Mary Beyerle, Sadie Slack and 3 great- great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Annable (Jim) Kubicka of Windsor, CA and Cora (Morris) Devine of Gothenburg and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Grace Gray Helberg, husband, Elvin, three brothers and sister-in-laws, Roland and Beulah Helberg, Lloyd and Delores Helberg, and Stanley and Donna Helberg.


Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 pm, Monday, Nov. 26 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Viter and Pastor Rick Rehmert officiating.


Visitation will be held from 1-5 pm, Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Gothenburg Cemetery.


Memorials may be given to the donor's choice or Gothenburg Long Term.
