Earl Hudson

Earl N Hudson, 87, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 24, 2010 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg.

He was born February 22, 1923 in Gothenburg, NE, Noah Earl and Pearl (McClellan) Hudson. Earl grew-up and attended school in Gothenburg graduating from Gothenburg High School in 1940.

On December 25, 1942 he married Gladys Hite at the Zion Lutheran Church in Gothenburg. To this union two sons were born; Ron and Jerry.

Earl entered the Army on February 9, 1943 and served his country in WWII.

Earl worked as a Postal Carrier until he retired in 1980.

He was a member of VFW and the American Lutheran Church. Earl enjoyed wood working and genealogy. Two of his favorite things to do were to go camping with his grandchildren and attend country music festivals.

Surviving are wife, Gladys Hudson of Gothenburg, NE, two sons Jerry (Joyce) Hudson of Gothenburg, and Ron (Carol) Hudson of Shelton, granddaughter, Stacey (Patrick) Winters of Kearney, NE, grandson, Mark (Heather) Hudson of Ravenna, NE, grandson, Brian (Rachael) Hudson of Sau Paulo, Brazil, granddaughter, Becky (Ryan) Splichal of Omaha, NE, five great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Sharon McMichael of Gothenburg, NE.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 12:00-8:00 pm at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St, Gothenburg, NE.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the American Lutheran Church, 1512 Avenue G, Gothenburg, NE with Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating.

Interment will follow at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell, NE.
