Earl R. Hopkins, 93, of Farnam, Nebraska, died April 14, 2012 on the farm South of Farnam.
He was born October 2, 1918 in Farnam, NE, to William Edwin and Maude Gertrude (Horn) Hopkins.
Earl grew up in Farnam and graduated from Farnam High School. Following high school he enrolled in the US Army on Aug. 2, 1940. He was Honorably discharged on March 9, 1946 as a Captain of the Army's 6th Recon Troop in WWII.
Following his service to his country he moved back to Farnam were he farmed and ranched until his passing.
He was a life member of VFW Post 15028. Earl loved farming and his cattle. He enjoyed doing the Omaha World Herald crossword puzzles till the end.
Earl leaves to mourn: sister-in-law Betty Hopkins of Omaha and 16 nieces and nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents William and Maude, brothers: Loyd, Leland, Richard, Oren, Clifford, Harold, Bernard and one infant brother; sisters Myrtle Belle and Irene Hercy.
