Biography

Dorothy Ann (Quinn) Lowe, 78, passed away February 11, 2009 with family by her side at Canterbury Center, Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

She was born July 23, 1930 in Keamey, Nebraska to the late Jess Hiram Quinn and the late Harriet Knutzen Quinn.

Her spirit will be missed in countless ways by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Christopher Reichel and their children Samantha and Isabella of Shepherdstown. Bella and Sammie were the light and the love of "Grandma Dots" life, Their smiles, drawings, and hugs gave her such joy.

She was married to Phillip Arnold Lowe for seventeen years before they amicably divorced. Their friendship continued and he provided a tremendous amount of care and support for Dorothy.

Dorothy was one of four Quinn sisters. Janet (Quinn) Kranau and her husband Jerry along with their children David, Kathy and Julie. Harriet (Quinn) Johnson and her friend John Rohrbach along with her children Katherine, Susan and Scott. Mary (Quinn) Buddenberg and her husband Bill (both preceded Dorothy in death) and their children Linda and Jody. As well, Dorothy delighted in watching many grandnieces and grandnephews grow up through photos and letters she received throughout the years. Their love and emotional support over the course of her life were a great source of comfort to Dorothy and she felt blessed to share in their lives.

Ms. Lowe was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. When she came to Shepherdstown, Pastor Bropleh, of Asbury United Methodist Church, graciously and beautifully ministered to her, both in the hospital and in the nursing home.

Her passing has left a hole in our hearts and we will treasure the happy memories forever. We are tremendously grateful to the staff of Canterbury Center for providing Dorothy with a quiet, peaceful and dignified end to her life.
