Dorothy Eleanor Brown, 89, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 29, 2014 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born August 20, 1925 in Bertrand, NE, daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Fish) Dyer.
Dorothy attended rural school near Bertrand until 5th grade when the family moved to Gothenburg. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1943. Dorothy married Rollie H. Brown on June 10, 1944 at Philipsburg, KS; to this union four children were born - Louise, Leslie, Dan, and Bonnie. Dorothy was a busy housewife and farmers helper. She cleaned houses for other people and prior to her marriage, she worked at Frenchy's Cafe. She belonged to the Sunny South Side Club for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years Rollie H. Brown of Gothenburg; two daughters, Louise (David) Diehl of Huron, SD, Bonnie (John) McCarthy of Lipan, TX; two sons, Leslie (Diane) Brown of Gothenburg; Dan (Rebecca) Brown of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren - Todd, Mary, Lisa, Scott, Jason, Lloyd, Larry, Lynette, Leon, Craig, Crystal, and Curtis; 22 great grandchildren - Allie, Shawn, Tason, Kayla, Brandon, Shae, Amber, Ryan, Courtney, Sarah, Collin, Jake, Madison, Zachery, Carson, Archie, Sean, Oliver, Tyler, Cheyenne, Anna, and Macy; one great great granddaugheter, Elizabeth; four brothers, Daryl (Margaret) Dyer, Donnie (Marean) Dyer, Dick (Sandra) Dyer, Bob (Judi) Dyer; five sisters, Marjorie Swearingen, Norma Venema, Marilyn (Art) Johnson, Carol Jean (Eldon) Wood, Judy Kay (Mike) Young; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Phyllis Hite.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, October 1, 2014, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 10:30 am with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
