Donna Lee Jensen, 73, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died June 10, 2020 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born February 26, 1947 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Marvin Lee and Luella Madeline (Waltman) Jensen. Donna grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from the Nebraska School of the Blind in 1967. Donna was very athletic; she loved to ride her bike, go bowling and participate in track. She loved to go to the pool and dive off the high dive. She spent many hours listening to country western music and had all the albums growing up. She was very musical and played the piano, the guitar and the accordion. She enjoyed entertaining people at Hilltop, the Senior Center and other places with her accordion.
Donna read as many books in Braille as she could get her hands on; later she switched to audio books. Donna had several leader dogs that assisted her thru life including Buffy who was very special to her. She loved the Huskers and loved to listen to Husker football. Her faith was important to her, she attended the Presbyterian and Baptist churches and was baptized at the American Lutheran Church. Donna's vision presented her with life long challenges and she was often in her own little world where she felt comfortable. She made her home at Hilltop Estates for the past 24 years. She enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine. Donna's favorite color was red and she had a collection of costume rings that she liked to wear every day.
Survivors include sister, Shirley Ann Jensen and her son Matthew of CA; two brothers, David Ray (Debby) Jensen of Cozad, NE, Bob (Mary Jane) Jensen of Gothenburg, NE and their family; two Aunts Rosemary Zeleski and Helen Armor, one uncle George Jensen and extended family and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Luella Jensen and numerous aunts and uncles.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
