Donald Nordin

Donald L. Nordin, 87, of Gothenburg, NE, died October 1, 2015 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg, NE.

Don was born August 26, 1928 on the family farm in Custer County, son of Peter E. and Anna Marie (Larson) Nordin.

Don grew up on the family farm and graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1946.  He married Elizabeth Ann Holm on March 28, 1951 at the Free Mission Church.  They made their home on the farm home in Custer County where they lived until moving to town in 2011.  Don was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Gothenburg.  He served on the church board in many different capacities, taught Jr. High Sunday School for many years and was an Awana leader for more than 30 years.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Elizabeth Nordin of Gothenburg, NE, two sons: Bryan (Denie) Nordin of Denver, CO; and Lane (Terri) Nordin of Gothenburg, NE; four grandsons, Joshua (Frances) , Matthew (Lisa) , Andrew, Geoff Nordin, and granddaughter, Jayme Nordin and one great grandson Silas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lillian and infant sister Marie Ann, brother Raymond Nordin, and two nieces Carin Holm and Sheryl Caruso.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, October 4, 2015, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm with the family present from 2:00-4:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at Evangelical Free Church, 1721 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE, Monday, October 5, 2015 at 2:30 pm.

Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.
