Dolores Schulz Heuer, passed away on October 4, 2024, just shy of her 95th birthday at Southlake Village in Lincoln, NE.
Dolores was born October 7, 1929 to Kenneth and Martha (Gronewold) France in Gothenburg, NE. She attended school in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1947. Dolores held many titles including that of homecoming queen and the first-ever Harvest of Harmony queen in 1946.
On October 29, 1950 she married Virgil J. Schulz. She was a busy mother and farm wife as they raised their three children: Mike, Ivan and Jody. Dolores worked at the local telephone company and at the Gothenburg State Bank for several years. She attended the American Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in women’s circle. After the children were grown, she enjoyed getting together with friends, playing bridge and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with numerous extended family members who lived in Gothenburg and the surrounding area.
Virgil preceded her in death in 2001 after 50 years of marriage. Later, Dolores married Kenneth “Kenny” Heuer and they lived in Ainsworth, NE until Kenny’s death in 2011. She then returned to live in Gothenburg until 2022 when she moved to Lincoln NE to be closer to her children.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, parents, brother Gene France, sister Bonnie Adams, and brother Leonard France, and second husband, Kenneth Heuer.
Survivors include her three children, Michael (Kathy) Schulz of Daphne, AL, Ivan Schulz of Lincoln, and Jody (Todd) Stull of Denton, NE, 5 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 10th, 5:00-7:00 pm at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, with the family present.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, 10:00 am at Ft. McPherson, Maxwell, NE.
Burial will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
