Crystal (Blevins) Wasley, daughter of John Edman "Ed" and Nellie Donavon Blevins was born at Chapman, Nebraska on April 20, 1910 at their farm home east of Chapman and was received into the arms of her Savior, and reunited with her loving husband John, on May 4, 2008 at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, NE.
She attended grade school at Chapman and graduated with the class of 1928 at Chapman High School, as Salutatorian. She received her diploma from Hasting Business College in 1931 majoring in typing, shorthand and accounting.
She was united in marriage to John Matthew Wasley of Moorefield, NE at Lexington, NE on January 2, 1932. They farmed in the Moorefield area until 1968, when they retired, and moved to Curtis.
She became a resident of Sunset Haven after her health failed her in 1995. Then in 2001, she moved to Senior Living Choices where she lived until February of 2005, when she moved to the Sutherland Care Center.
Crystal accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, and spent her entire life doing what she could to further the Gospel, by serving others.
Crystal was a very talented and accomplished pianist/organist. She began playing the piano at an early age, and studied piano until her Jr. year in High School. She taught piano lessons for many years, and also was the pianist at several churches, the last being the Curtis Berean Bible Church, where she played almost continuously from 1969 until 2003. The music that flowed from deep in her soul out through her fingers will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
In 1998, she was honored by the Board of Directors of the Berean Fellowship of Churches, for her faithful and notable service to her church and for the ministry of the church at large.
She and her husband John, were the last two living members of the Moorefield Union Church.
Crystal was a very thoughtful and appreciative person, always planning ahead, and thinking of others. She even wrote most of her own obituary. She was known for her famous cinnamon rolls, pies, and homemade bread. All who knew her appreciated her thoughtful, kind and considerate ways. She was a very special lady.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 1992.
She is survived by two second cousins, Larry Blevins of Lincoln, and Judy Walker of Sadalia, CO, and the special people in her life, Rev, and Mrs. Clyde White of Curtis, NE, whom she and John regarded as their children, and Becky Durner and family of McCook, Robin (Brent) Smith and family of Lincoln, and Rhonda Keeshan and family of Lincoln, all of whom they considered grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and John spent many pleasant and memorable holidays and special days with them, and were part of their family life in a very intricate way. Also dear friends of hers were John and Barb Vanarsdall, of Hershey, NE, and a host of other friends including many from the Berean Bible Church in Curtis.
