Creta E. Garratt, 91, of Gothenburg passed away on June 9, 2015 at Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg. Creta was born on September 11, 1923, to Alfred and Jesse (Beeson) Andrews at Hollenberg, Kansas. She graduated from Hollenberg High School in 1941 and attended Peru State College and later taught at several small country schools in Kansas and Nebraska.
On July 21,1946 she married Arlond Garratt in Hutchinson, Kansas. To this union four children were born: Kathy, Don, Roger and Sherri. Creta was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was devoted to her family, friends and to the church.
Crete was known for her daily exercise routine, her made-from-scratch cooking and her flowers and gardening. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. Creta was very active in her church and helped in many ways. For over twenty years she was a volunteer with the sing-a-long program at the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, daughter Sherri Blase (2002), son-in-law Richard Blase (2005) and her husband Arlond (2006).
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Mick) Brosius of North Platte; two sons, Don (Sandy) Garratt, of Superior, Colorado; and Roger (Kris) Garratt, of Seattle, Washington; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grand children; many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, at the First Presbyterian Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Jill Boyd and the Rev. David Boyd officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 14 with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements
