Cliff Ackerman

Clifford L. Ackerman, 71, of Gothenburg, passed away on August 8, 2009 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
He was born on September 7, 1937 to Richard and Lorena (Aden) Ackerman at Gothenburg, NE. Cliff attended Gothenburg High School and then entered the United States Army in which he served his country from December 2, 1955 until he was honorably discharged on November 25, 1958.
On May 6, 1956 he married Dixie Rhinehart at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, NE. To this union two children were born: Teresa and Mike.
Cliff worked for Central Nebraska Public Power, Schlake Construction and others, but was forced into retirement due to his health. He was a member of American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department, various card clubs, and pool league. Cliff enjoyed watching Husker Football, tractor pulling, and helping Stan on the farm. His biggest joy in life was watching his grandkids grow and attending their functions.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Dixie, son Mike (Carmen) Ackerman of Gothenburg, NE; daughter Teresa (Jeff) Serafin of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren: Amaya, Arissa and Ian Ackerman of Gothenburg, NE; Jennifer Serafin of Winona, MN; and Erin Serafin of Lincoln, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Richard Ackerman, mother, Lorena Ackerman, brothers, Stan and Dean, Step-Mother, Phyllis Ackerman, and his in-laws, Reynolds and Nona Rhinehart.
