Charles Purintun

Charles "Cork" Purintun, 84, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died February 14, 2013 in Gothenburg, NE.

He was born September 21, 1928 in Overton, NE, son of Hugh L. and Emma V. (Anderson) Purintun.

Cork grew up in Overton, NE and attended school there. He enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and served his country in the Army in Korea. On September 26, 1948, he married Kathryn Jones at Lexington NE. To this union three children were born: Kathleen, Daniel, and James. The family moved to Gothenburg in 1954. Cork worked as a carpenter for many years. He was active in his community in the VFW, serving on the Gothenburg Volunteer Department, and was an EMT. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising a big garden.

Surviving are wife, Kathryn Purintun of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Kathleen (Keith) Vogt; two sons - Daniel and James Purintun all of Gothenburg; five grandchildren-Kanda (Clayton) Kleinknecht, Kody Vogt, Karmen Jones, Jessica Purintun, Erika Purintun; five great grandchildren- Kyle, Karliegh, and Kaitlyn Kleintnecht and Kalib and Kehl Jones; sister, Catherine (Bob) Adams, along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Cork was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers - Mike and Vernon "Pat"; two sisters - Lela Ann "Dot" Huff and Eileen Jones.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, February 17, 2013 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, February 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department 602 Tenth Street Gothenburg, NE 69138, First United Methodist Church 1401 Lake Ave Gothenburg, NE 69138.
