Carolyn J. Cole, 72, of Curtis, Nebraska, died March 11, 2014 at her home in Curtis, NE.

She was born September 5, 1941 in Farnam, NE, daughter of Robert and Ruth (Rhine) Bybee.

Carolyn grew up at Curtis and graduated from UNSA in 1959. She lived at Curtis except for when she lived at Milford, NE in 1959-1961. Carolyn married Hazen Cole on December 20, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in Curtis NE. She was a homemaker and kept busy with Jobs Daughters, PEO (held the office of Guard for 2 years), and a Girl Scout Leader. She worked for 4 years at the Hi-Line Enterprise, and as a secretary and bookkeeper at Medicine Valley Schools from 1980 to 2007. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially any activities the grandchildren were involved in. She liked camping, reading, crafts, Husker games, golf and fishing.

Surviving are husband, Hazen Cole of Curtis, NE, daughters, Denise & Dusty Bybee of Hillsboro, OR, Brenda and Todd Sterns of McCool Junction, NE, Karla and Russell Callan of Ord, NE; seven grandchildren - Brandi and Jared Rogers of Tacoma, WA, Adam Bybee, Kristen and Aaron Haddock, Savanna Bybee all of Hillsboro, OR, Riley and Taylor Smith of Davenport, IA, Ryan Callan of Ord, NE, Landon Sterns of McCool Junction, NE; great grandchildren - Teagan Rogers, Brooklyn Bybee, and Carson Haddock.

Carolyn was preceded in death by father, Robert Bybee, mother, Ruth Bybee, sister, Sandra Swearingen.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska; Friday, March 14, 2014 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with the family present from 5-7.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 402 Center, Curtis, NE 69025 Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:00 am with Rev. Bonnie Forney officiating.

Interment will follow in the Curtis Cemetery, Curtis, Nebraska.
