Carol Jean Kniss,70, died June 6, 2007 at Greenwood Village & Rehab Center in Centennial, CO. She was born in Gothenburg, NE on September 20,1936 to Paul J. Kniss and Pauline Hohnstein Kniss. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1954 and attended UNK the next year before transferring to Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis, MN to study radiology, which was Her first love. After receiving her degree, she ventured to Rialto, CA with Sandra Myrberg in 1959 to pursue her career. Carol worked for Kaiser Permanente in Fontana, CA for nearly 40 years. She devoted her Life to her work and received her CRT & ARRT Radiological Technologist designations. She also received the Kaiser Permanente Employee of the year award.
Her activities at the Sunrise Church in Rialto, CA were numerous including teaching Sunday School and being on the church board for many years. Carol's motto was "born to shop" and she was always on the lookout for a bargain. She also loved antique collecting. Her collection including several hundred pieces of glassware. Annual travels throughout the world with special friends Dorothy and Lori were another great source of enjoyment for her.
In May, 2003 she was forced to retire due to health reasons and was moved to Centennial, CO where she lived for the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her brother Jack (Faye) Kniss of Gothenburg NE; nephew Jared Kniss of Omaha, NE; Niece Julie McCoy and her five children of Simi Valley, CA; a special cousin Jerry Hohnstein of Centennial, CO; an aunt Edith Glantz of Ottawa, KS; and other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Pauline Kniss.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Gothenburg with Pastor Tom Harris officiating. Those wishing to sign the registrar book may do so on Thursday, July 12, from 9:000 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church.
