Burton Dale Slack, 79, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 12, 2011 in Gothenburg, NE.
Burton was born January 9, 1932 at Gothenburg to Delbert and Elva (Houchin) Slack. He attended school at Gothenburg Public Schools and was baptized at the Methodist Church on November 15,1953.
Slack served his country with the U. S Army October 24, 1947 to October 1950. He had enlisted for two years but service was extended an additional year by President Truman.
He was married in 1952 and to this union four children were born, Kristi, Kathy, Karen and Kim Slack.
Burton enjoyed working with animals and livestock his whole life. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was also a local businessman for 33 years owning and operating Stor All Rentals.
Burton was preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Elva, his sister Jeanette and brother Richard.
Survivors include three daughters Kristi (Dutch) Edson, Kathy (Mark) Stencel, Karen (Mark) Meyer, son Kim (Marcy) Slack with nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and sister Norma (Wayne) Devine. Extended family Linda Slack, Travis (Mindy) Brock, Detrick (Kirsten) Brock, Warren Brock and Della (Dave) Hengen, and eight grandchildren.
