Burton Ristine

Burton M Ristine, 83, of Gothenburg, passed away on October 9, 2009 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.
He was born on December 3, 1925 to Cecil and Elsie (McCance) Ristine on a farm northeast of Gothenburg, NE. He graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1944. On November 20, 1948, he married Marilyn Larsen in Gothenburg, NE. To this union three children were born. On December 26, 1994 he married Lona Abelbeck Nelson at North Platte, NE.
Burton served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. While serving his country, Burton received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Metal, World War II Victory Metal, Good Conduct Metal and Army of Occupation Medal.
Burton worked as a farmer and rancher. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, Banner United Methodist Church and American Lutheran Church, Airport Authority, served on the Board of the Coop and the School Board of District 62. He farmed from 1946 to 1992, flew airplanes, enjoyed antique cars, collecting cars, enjoyed pulling pranks and loved Halloween. He also enjoyed jet skiing and boating at the cabin at Jeffery Lake, learning about history, watching Husker football, his cattle, telling stories and lighting off fireworks.
Burton is survived by his wife Lona, sons - Ross (Kressy) Ristine of Gothenburg, NE, Jim Ristine of Gothenburg, NE; daughter - Ann (Bruce) Hausmann of Highlands Ranch, CO; step-son - David (Pam) Nelson of Liberty, MO; step-daughters - Pamala (Mike) Derreberry of Newport News, VA, Lori (Addam) Maxwell of Elkhorn, NE; brother-in-law - Mike (Marian) Larson of Gothenburg, NE; sister-in-law - Doris (Ralph) Craig of Gothenburg, NE, 5 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Elsie Ristine, first wife, Marilyn Larsen Ristine, brothers, Paul and Thaine Ristine and cousin, Margie Roberts.
