Burton N. Beck, 86, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died March 24, 2012 at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.
He was born January 5, 1926 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Nels and May (Ostergard) Beck.
Burton grew up on the family farm north of Gothenburg, and attended Southwest Custer County grade school. He graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1943. After graduation, Burton lived in Gothenburg and Fremont, he then moved north of Gothenburg to farm. Burton married Leila Johansen on March 26, 1950 at North Platte, NE; to this union four children were born: Debra, Kenneth, Timmy, and Tammy.
Burton was a farmer and rancher and a seed corn dealer. He was a member of the New Hope Evangelical Free Church, the Gothenburg Chamber and a school board member for District 284. Burton enjoyed attending church, going to his grandchildren's activities and visiting with friends.
Survivors include his loving wife Leila Beck, daughter - Debra (Arlan) Jamieson of Wichita, KS and their children Michael (his wife Lizz) and Teresa; daughter Tammy (Larry) Paulsen of Cozad, NE and their children Lauren, Drew, Jed, Colt, and Jake; son - Kenneth (Kelli) Beck of Gothenburg, NE and their children Jared (his wife Anna, and children Xander and Addison), Jacob, and Jessica; son Timmy (SueAnn) Beck of Wichita, KS and their children Samantha and Shawn; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Burton was preceded in death by his parents Nels and May Beck; brothers Kenneth and Orville; sisters Fern, Violet, and Verna.
