Bruce Wayne Milne, 70, of Reno, Nevada, died September 26, 2018 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Bruce was born August 7,1948 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Burton (Bud) Young and Dagmar Thunberg Milne. He grew up in South Gate, CA and graduated from South Gate High School in June of 1966. He attended Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA where he earned an Associates degree in Criminal Justice. He was employed with the Los Angeles Police Department for a short time. Bruce served his country in the Army from April 19, 1968 until April 14, 1974. His tour of duty in Vietnam was from Oct. 18, 1968 through Dec. 15,1969. He was a member of the A Battery 7th Battalion 11th Field Artillery and served at Tay Nihn and Long Bin, Vietnam in the 25th Infantry Division. Bruce was a Drill Sergeant while stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. In 1978, Bruce moved to Reno, NV where he lived until his passing. He worked for the Hamilton Company until around 2000 when he became disabled due to complications from Agent Orange exposure in Viet Nam. Bruce was a member of the NRA, VFW and DAV.
Bruce is survived by his cousins and friends Bob Griffey and Greg Vance. He had many more friends but too numerous to name.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dagmar Thunberg Milne and Burton (Bud) Young Milne and his maternal grandmother Inga Thunberg Wahlgren.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, October 5, 2018, 9:30-10:30 am.
Funeral Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:30 am with Pastor Scott Newman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE with Military Honors.
