Bev was born on July 3, 1935 to Caroll and Eva (Frazell) Sypolt. She graduated from 8th grade at Smithfield School. Her father worked for the railroad and was doing repairs in the Farnam area. The family lived in a rail car near Farnam while her dad was working there. She made some friends from Farnam and decided to go to Farnam High. Bev fell in love with the town and was proud to call Farnam her life's home.
She married Dick Edson on January 24, 1954. He was stationed in Ft. Meade, Maryland and they lived in Laurel, which was close to Ft. Meade Army Base. While they were there, “Randy” Randall Leon was born. They called him their “Gl Issue.” They came home to Farnam in April of 55, and lived out north of town on a farm for a few years. While there Richard Lee “Dutch”, Dawna Jo, and Kimberly Sue were born. It was during the drought years, so it was quite a struggle to make enough money to live on so they moved to town and bought a house.
