Betty Riley

Betty L Riley, 70, Kearney, formerly of Gothenburg passed away on September 22, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Betty was born on December 12, 1937 at Bellefontaine, Ohio to Arthur Edward and Helen May (Rhodes) Moon. Betty grew up in Bellefontaine and graduated from high school at the age of 16.

Betty married William E. Riley on May 12, 1962 at Bellefontaine, Ohio. Later she lived at Lexington, Kentucky and Lewisville Indiana. Betty and Bill moved to Gothenburg in 1979 where Betty lived until she moved to Kearney in 1996.

Betty worked as a nurse's aid. She was active member of the WM Women, where she served as president for several years at Family Tabernacle. She enjoyed making flower arrangements; she loved singing and listening to the Gaither Vocal Group.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill on October 6, 1987, 4 brothers: Bob, Harold, Frank, and Chuck; a grandson Daniel and a nephew Bobby.

Survivors include her son Michael William (Chris Eve) Riley of Chula Vista, CA; 2 daughters: Leslie Jody (Marion K.) Bodey of Kearney, NE; Michelle Lee (Paul Brenner) Mosley of Minden, NE; 5 grandchildren: Chris (Heidi) Galas of Gothenburg; Julie Shipley of Kearney; Nicole Galas of Virginia, Kersten & Kelsee Mosley of Minden, 3 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Nancy Moon, Donna Moon, Ruth Moon, Bud (Ann) Moon, Fred (Jean) Moon, Kay Moon, Vicky (Dean) Dodd, Phyllis Kay Moon along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 1:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be at noon in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
