Betty June (Florom) Knox, 77, of Curtis, passed away on September 3, 2010 at Wilber Care Center in Wilber, NE.

She was born on May 26, 1933 to Hazen and Aletha (Schnase) Florom in Curtis, NE.

She went to school in Curtis and graduated from UNSA in 1951. While in school she was a member of the orchestra and played the violin. She was also a member of an intramural basketball squad. She received her teaching certificate and taught in a country school west of Maywood for a couple of years.

On September 17, 1954, she married Crete Knox at the United Methodist Church in Curtis, NE. To this union two children were born: Cindy and Ronald.

She lived in this area her entire life, with the exception of the last year where she had lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Crete.

Betty and Crete lived in Wellfleet after they were married in 1954, and later moved to North Platte and then moved on to Curtis where she raised her family. Betty and Crete were owners of CK Appliance Store and Curtis Lanes Bowling Alley until they retired. Her interests included: sewing, crocheting, bowling, fishing and sports. She loved following her children to all of their sporting events and was an avid Nebraska Football Fan. She took her first plane ride in October of 2009 to Colorado and was presented her first set of wings.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Michael) Stehlik of Crete, NE, granddaughter, Nicole Stehlik and partner Kristi Baxter of Castle Rock, CO, grandson Tim (Ashley) Stehlik and great-grandson Jackson of Crete, NE, grandson, Matt Stehlik of Lincoln, NE; son-Ronald (Shelly) Knox of Lafayette, CO, and grandson, Aaron Otillar of Lafayette, CO; sister-Mary Lou Vreeland, Curtis, NE; Aunt-Elizabeth Schnase of McCook, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazen and Aletha Florom; husband, Crete; brothers, George and Marvin Florom; nephew and niece, Greg and Deborah Vreeland.
