Bethel Willis

Bethel J. Willis, 80, of Gothenburg, died on July 31, 2008 at North Platte.


Bethel June was born on June 21, 1928 at Anselmo, NE to Eugene and Malinda (Spooner) Whipple. She grew up in the Sand Hills and Climax area. She attended District 281.


Bethel married Marvin L. Willis on April 19, 1947 at Smith Center, KS. To this union 6 sons were born: Harold, Stanley, Arnold, Brian, Tony, and Darren.


Bethel lived in Colorado Springs, CO from the early 1950's until May of 1999 when she moved to Gothenburg. She worked for a uniform cleaning company.


Bethel was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #143, the VFW of Colorado Springs and Gothenburg, and the Boy Scouts of America at Colorado Springs.


Bethel is survived by her sons: Stanley (Martha) of Lamar, CO; Arnold of Gothenburg, NE; Brian (Debra) of Colorado Springs, CO; Tony (Laura) of Peyton, CO, and Darren of Gothenburg, NE; a sister Margaret Haswell-Jersin of Gothenburg, NE 2 sister-in-laws: Margaret Whipple of Arapaho, NE and Lucille Whipple of Brady, NE; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, a son Harold, and two brothers Karl and Eugene (JR) Whipple.


Register book will be available from 9-5, Monday, August 4 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.


Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, August 4, 2008, American Lutheran Church Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating.


Inurnment will take place at a later date in Memorial Gardens, Colorado Springs, CO.
