Barbara Woodring

August 21, 1932 — February 6, 2020

Barbara Jean (Nutt) Woodring, 87, of Curtis, Nebraska, passed away in the early morning hours on February 6, 2020 in Grant Ne.

Barbara or Barb as she was known to by many was born on Aug 21, 1932 to Russell and Bessie (Freeman) Nutt. She was the youngest of the couple's three children. She grew up 18 miles north of Curtis on what was known as the William Nutt farm. She attended a county school through the 8th grade which was about 5 miles from her home often riding her horse to get there. She married Marvin Woodring on January 14, 1951 in Curtis at the Congregational Church. The couple made their home on a farm east of Stockville to raise their 5 children Donald Wesley, Lynda Jean, Dale Alan, Beverly Ann and Connie Jo. In 1978 Barbara moved to Curtis. Barbara was a hard worker often taking in laundry, cleaning the Stockville courthouse and the hotel in Curtis. She spent many hours volunteering at both the Star theater and the thrift store. She spent many years living with her special friend Jerry Pike. They would go fishing together and walking their dog Muddy.

Barbara loved many beautiful things and had lots of collections but her favorite was cardinals; friends and family would continue to add to this collection throughout the years. Due to health reasons, in 2016 she moved to the Grant nursing home to be closer to her daughter Bev. She would remain there until her passing. Barbara was fiercely independent and spoke her mind. She will be remembered for her lipstick and polished nails which were always done no matter where she went. She would always be dressed for the day from the moment that she got up until she went to bed, always taking pride in her appearances.

She was preceded  in death by her parents and her siblings Mack and Mary, 6 grandchildren, Keela, Jody, James Jr. (JJ) Holmberg, Brenda, Phillip and Kolby Woodring.

She was survived by her children, Donnie and Bonnie Woodring of Moorefield, Lynda and Phil Molzahn of Kennsington Ks, Dale and Sharlene Woodring of Stockville, Beverly and Gary Kreis of Grant and Connie Woodring of Media PA, 10 grandchildren Jeremy, Stacey, Lisa, Amy, Jason, Sheila, Kyle, Kipp, Daphne and Shawn, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, and sister in law Lucille Nutt.
